It just goes back to the same question, how does Cryo and Ceramic Coating effect the detonation. IDK if I trust Unichip, they are not very high on my list. I did send out an email to both George for RICA and Frederick for MTE, non have gotten back yet, but they are probably all busy. If I could go on 9.1:1 with a stock ECU for a bit and not have problems with the knock sensor retarding the timing, I'd do it. I can begin to appreciate the guys going with a higher CR since most of them are Auto Crossing and Drag strip, but the 8.5:1 should work great for a full road coarse that I do, since the turbo comes on in the 2500 range. I just need a little breather from dumping 45k+ in mods and repairs. The higher compression ratio will help take up the slack in the bottom end if your using a turbo that builds boost later.Ĭlick to expand. But still the workable CR with that set up would be 8.5:1, right? I'm not going to stop after the internals are done. What turbo something with boost building early, mid or late. All depends on what your after and what your setup is? Daily driver, track only or mix? If DD I keep the compression at stock level or minor increase, track only maybe push it to near the calculated max and shoot for a mid number for a mix use setup. In any case start high with octane and low on boost and watch for the knock sensor to start reporting or timing getting excesively pulled to prevent knock as an indicator that your about to have a melt down. You should have all the specific info on the measurements for the formula to calculate a good target compression ratio since you've had your apart. Lot of good info here regarding compression ratios on turbo applications: 10:1 and 24lbs of boost sounds like a recipe for destruction on our blocks, but maybe the sleeves you have will help to mitigate that? With an increased CR and increased boost you'll likely need to run 100 octane at a minimum to be sure and reduce the probability of knock.
